Where it all began

After working for Kath Hawkins, previous owner and founder of The Honey Pot, I took on the business in July 2017. From as early as I can remember, my life has revolved around food – and the jobs I was drawn to from the age of 16 involved producing, cooking or serving it – so falling into the café scene at the eager age of 25 was hardly a surprise. My aim in taking on The Honey Pot was to maintain the incredibly high standards set by Kath – in the flavours of the cooking, the quality of service and attention to detail – and to make sure the ethos of the business was respected and continued into the next generation.

A year in, my life took an unexpected twist into the world of motherhood when baby Rosa arrived in 2018, and with single parenting as full time a job as running a café, life is pretty hectic! Luckily the amazing support from friends, family, my incredible Honey Pot team, and the wider community of Penzance has kept me going through a wonderfully chaotic time, and The Honey Pot lives on!

Pop in and say hi next time you’re visiting our wonderful town – we’d love to see you!

Our Ethos & Suppliers

At The Honey Pot, our ethos centres on sustainability, with produce sourced locally and menus reflecting the changing of the seasons. We are proud to have achieved plastic-free status in 2018 as the 11th Champion of Plastic Free Penzance. We reuse and recycle everything we can and compost 100% of our food waste, which goes to local pesticide-free growers, who then supply us with some of our produce and the flowers for our tables.

We have created our menu to reflect what we feel is the most responsible way to eat at this critical time for our planet – with vegetables, pulses and grains at the heart of our food, and locally sourced dairy, outdoor reared or free-range meat and sustainably caught Newlyn fish featuring when appropriate. With this in mind, as well as homemade sweet treats and a variety of gluten and allergen-free dishes, we hope there is something to please everyone.

Our freshly ground single-origin coffee is sustainably produced by Yallah Coffee Roasters, who cook our coffee beans to order in their small barn just outside Falmouth. They provide our front of house team with up to date barista training to make sure we keep their incredible coffee tasting as delicious as it should. Our slow-rise sourdough ciabattas come from St Ives Bakery and are delivered fresh each morning, still warm from the oven. Other suppliers include; Mounts Bay Dairy, Total Produce Cornwall, Beige Donuts, Trenow Fields, Harvey Brothers Butchers, Celtic Fish & Game, St Ives Food Co, The Weigh Inn Penzance, Thornes Fruit & Veg Ltd, Suma Wholefoods, Penwithian Wholesalers and RD Johns Food Sales.

As well as our every day opening hours, we provide catering for local businesses and private events and make bespoke celebration cakes to order. We absolutely love hosting special events ranging from themed world food nights to Sunday roasts, bottomless brunches and evenings of music and food with local acts accompanying tapas-style dining.
